Biography
Ahmed’s core research interests lie at the interface of machine learning, computer vision, and image processing. Prior to joining TRI, he was a post-doctoral researcher in the department of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania, where his research focused on computational medical imaging for assessing breast cancer recurrence risk. He received training as a translational research scientist at Penn. Ahmed holds a Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. He did his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan.
At TRI, Ahmed is using computer vision methods for assessing the dementia level of older adults as well as assessing Levodopa induced dyskinesia in Parkinson’s disease patients.
Projects
- Assessing dementia onset by observing hand washing behavior
- The automated measurement of Levodopa-induced dyskinesia in people with advanced Parkinson's disease
- Data harmonization
