David Giesbrecht

Biography

David Giesbrecht completed a Masters of Science at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton, UK. His Masters research involved multichannel signal processing, computational modeling and psychoacoustic testing for virtual acoustic
systems. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Guelph. From 2001 to 2005 David was employed as a Research Scientist for Harman Becker in Vancouver, BC where he was responsible for the design and development of signal processing algorithms and software for both human listening and automatic speech recognition (ASR) applications. In 2005-2006 David completed various IT projects for Sustainable Energy Africa in Cape Town, South Africa as part of Industry Canada's Netcorps program.

As a Software Developer for IATSL, David works with the rest of the research team in developing and implementing assistive devices and systems involving computer vision, machine learning and signal processing technologies.
