Biography

Bernice D'Souza trained as an Occupational Therapist at The University of Buffalo, State University of New York. She is currently registered as an OT both in the US and in Canada, and recently moved to Toronto after practicing in the state of New Jersey for the last four years. Her area of practice includes Oncology, Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Pulmonary and Cardiac disorders, in sub-acute/acute rehabilitation as well as in long term care. 

Bernice became a part of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Rehabilitation team in October 2013, and has taken on the role of a Research Occupational Therapist. As part of IATSL, Bernice is involved in clinically evaluating an intelligent haptic robotic system for rehabilitation of the upper limb post stroke. Within the study, she will also be involved in the recruitment/education of Therapists and stroke  survivors, safety and risk management as needed, and functional testing of stroke survivors pre-treatment, mid-treatment and post-treatment using standardized assessments.
