Biography

Jacob received his Bachelors of Applied Science in Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo in 2017. For his bachelors capstone project he worked on a system designed to provide haptic and force feedback on the hand when interacting with objects in a virtual environment. The system was intended for stroke rehabilitation and to provide users an entertaining, dynamic and flexible platform to be used in conjunction with upper-limb therapies.

Jacob started his Master of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering at Intelligent Assistive Technology and Systems Lab in the fall of 2017. For his Master’s thesis, he will contribute to the intelligent powered wheelchair for older adults with cognitive impairments.

His research interests include robotics, assistive technologies, and rehabilitation engineering.
